COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Oppressive heat and humidity can aggravate chronic health issues which may be difficult for elderly or persons with chronic breathing conditions to deal with this summer. The Summer Crisis Program can help! In partnership with The Breathing Association, Ohio Department of Development, United Way and OANO, NBC 4 wants to help you breathe a little easier.
This year's Summer Crisis Program runs through August 31, 2008 and you can call (614) 457-2997 to make an appointment to find out if you quality for cooling payment assistance or a free air conditioner or fan.
A few of the criteria for this year include:
• Income eligibility is 175% of the Federal Poverty Guideline
• Households with documented medical condition may be eligible for an electric bill payment assistance
• The maximum amount for bill payment assistance is $100
